Protecting us all at the beauty counter - our pledge to customers

With department and retail stores ready to welcome customers back from 15 June 2020, the cosmetics and personal care industry’s trade association, the Cosmetic, Toiletry and Perfumery Association (CTPA)    has worked with manufacturers, distributors, retailers and the industry’s scientific experts to ensure that you can feel confident when choosing your favourite products in store. 


Mouthwashes and COVID-19

You may have read reports in the media about a review    from Cardiff University which has looked at the possibility that some mouthwashes may have an effect in the fight against COVID-19. COVID-19 is a new virus and the scientific community is researching it as a matter of priority.  New information about how it spreads, how it can be treated    and if a vaccine can be developed is being learnt all the time. 


Home manicure? Nailed it!

To make sure your nails still look fabulous and to distract    you from being stuck in the house, why not try a DIY manicure at home using different nail polishes?  It is a great opportunity to experiment using your artistic skills, and on the plus side, polish is quick and easy to remove if your nail art doesn’t quite go to plan. 


CTPA launches Emergency Response Exchange (CERE) to help tackle COVID-19

CTPA has been working on an Exchange system which aims to help the production of hand hygiene products    by matching the needs of manufacturing facilities with the suppliers of ingredients and components required.

As we follow the Government advice to stay at home to help reduce the spread of Covid-19, and with hair and beauty salons temporarily closed, we may be thinking of treating ourselves to a home hair treatment. 


CTPA urges against using home-made hand sanitisers

You may have seen online discussions and suggestions on how to make your own hand sanitiser as a way of helping reduce the spread of Coronavirus.  The idea of people making their own hand gels is of great concern to us at CTPA and to experts in hygiene.  It is extremely important not to make such products at home.
