UV filter

A substance that filters certain UV rays in order to protect the skin or the hair from harmful effects of UVA and UVB rays. All UV filters allowed for use in cosmetic products in the UK are listed on the positive list of UV filters (Annex VI of the Cosmetics Regulation).
