It's Recycle Week!

Recycle Week is the UK’s biggest annual recycling event, from 14 to 20 September.

CTPA is supporting Recycle Now's campaign “Rescue your Recyclables” which encourages people to put empty products and packaging into the correct bins and raise awareness of products that many people do not realise can be recycled.

Many of us recycle regularly from the kitchen, but bathroom products often get overlooked. Items like shampoo and conditioner bottles, shower gels, bubble baths, deodorants, hairsprays, toothpaste tubes and even perfume bottles can often be recycled too. Once they are empty, check if they can go in your household recycling collection. It’s a simple way to reduce waste and preserve valuable resources.

Online Recycling Locator Tool that shows which packaging can be collected with your household recycling and the nearest take-back scheme drop-off points for those items that can’t be recycled at home.

 

Did you know…?

  • Toothpaste brands now use recyclable materials for their tubes so toothpaste tubes can be recycled at home, which could save around 300 million tubes from landfill this year. 
  • Aerosol deodorant cans are metals can be recycled again and again and never need to end up in landfill.  Recycling just one deodorant can could save enough energy to charge your phone over forty times. 
  • Shampoo bottles can be recycled and turned into garden chairs. 
  • Recycling one glass perfume bottle saves enough energy to watch television for 2 hours.
