In silico
'In-silico' testing means using computer models and simulations to predict how cosmetic ingredients might behave in the body. Scientists use digital tools to estimate things like whether an ingredient might irritate the skin or be harmful if absorbed.
This method is part of a group of modern, animal-free testing approaches. In-silico tools often work by comparing new ingredients to similar ones that have already been tested, helping scientists make informed safety decisions. However, these tools still require expert interpretation and are often used alongside other methods like lab-based (in-vitro) tests.
