Surfactant
Surfactants, short for 'surface active agents', are used in cosmetic products to help mix ingredients that don’t naturally blend well, such as oil and water. This makes them essential for creating stable, effective formulations like creams, cleansers, and shampoos.
Surfactants have many other important functions including acting as cleaning agents to dissolve dirt, creating the foamy lather that we see when using products such as soaps and shampoos, and keeping solid particles evenly distributed in liquid products.
Thanks to their multifunctional nature, surfactants are key to the performance, feel, and appearance of many cosmetic products. They are carefully selected and used at levels that are both effective and safe for everyday use.
