Limonene is a fragrance ingredient, used for its distinctive citrus smell. It is naturally present in rind of citrus fruits including lemons, limes and oranges.
If limonene is present in the cosmetic product above a certain threshold, it will be listed on the ingredients list. This is because a number of fragrance ingredients which are more likely to be associated with allergic reactions must be listed individually to help consumers with a diagnosed allergy make an informed choice.
