CTPA Position Paper on Take-back Schemes for small cosmetic product packaging

CTPA has been working with the industry and key stakeholders on Take-back Schemes, and has published a Position Paper!

CTPA strongly believes that all items of packaging for cosmetic products placed on the market must be ultimately recyclable, either via kerbside collections or through the provision of Take-back Schemes.

There are forms of small cosmetic packaging, such as some make-up, that can’t be recycled with other household recycling as they are too small for the recycling process, but the good news is they can still be recycled!

Many of these types of packaging can be taken to a central collection point, known as Take-Back Schemes. These collection points tend to be in certain shops or retail outlets that can be visited on routine shopping outings.

CTPA has been working with the industry and key stakeholders on Take-back Schemes, and has published a Position Paper, committing to work with companies to maximise collection through Take-Back Schemes that are already in place and encourage other schemes to be set up.

In addition, CTPA will continue its work with sustainable brand, Recycle Now, which created a Recycling Locator, to tell you where your nearest take-back scheme is, depending on what you want to recycle.
